blake

Blake (Gareth Thomas) - original leader of the rebels. Disappeared at the end of series 2, eventually located in the final episode. Blake was involved with the Freedom Party on Earth, before being brainwashed and paraded as a model citizen. When he became involved with the resistance again, he was framed and sent to the penal colony Cygnus Alpha, but escaped en route on the Liberator with Avon and Jenna. Passionate about the cause, his singlemindedness sometimes caused conflict with the rest of the crew.

avon

Avon (Paul Darrow) - computer genius who was caught while trying to embezzle a fortune from the Federation banking system. Escaped with Blake on the Liberator. Avon keeps his emotions under tight control, and often picks an argument with Blake. Avon believes his lover, Anna Grant, was killed by the Federation, but he eventually finds out she was an agent who was "running" him, and kills her himself. Eventually kills Blake when he believes Blake has betrayed them.

jenna

Jenna (Sally Knyvette) - a smuggler and talented pilot, escaped with Blake on the Liberator. Jenna is the principal pilot of the Liberator, and often went on the various missions, but later ended up on teleport duty more than anything else. Jenna disappeared at the end of season 2, and was never located. As a character, rather under-used, although the writers were fond of having her captured by hairy savages.

vila

Vila (Michael Keating) - a thief, expert at picking any kind of lock, escaped from Cygnus Alpha when Blake returned there to recruit a crew. Vila professes to be cowardly, and often is seen to try to shirk responsibilities. When need be he can be quite brave, and his array of thievery skills often saved the crew. Often the "victim" of Avon's barbed wit, their verbal exchanges are often very amusing.

gan

Gan (David Jackson) - sent to Cygnus Alpha for killing the man who killed his woman, and fitted with a limiter which prevented him killing again. Escaped from the planet when Blake returned with the Liberator. Although he couldn't kill he was very useful in a fight situation, and also extremely strong. He was killed by a falling tunnel roof in Pressure Point, while escaping from Servalan - he held the roof up so the others could get through.

cally

Cally (Jan Chappell) - a telepath from the planet Auron, Cally was found on Saurian Major, the last survivor of the rebel faction. Although a guerrilla fighter, she later admitted to being an exile from Auron. Her telepathy was often used in the plot, and she was possessed by various beings. Cally died at the end of season 3, on the planet Terminal.

dayna

Dayna (Josette Simon) - daughter of Hal Mellanby, a weapons expert, and skilled in many forms of combat and weapons development. Joined the crew after her father was killed by Servalan, and vowed to kill her. Younger than most of the crew, Dayna could be impetuous but relished a good fight.

tarrant

Tarrant (Steven Pacey) - originally a Federation pilot, he deserted, and ended up on the Liberator at the beginning of season 3. Often disagreed with Avon, and could be brusque bordering on unpleasant with others at times. However, this could partly be attributed to his relative youth and Federation training; he was a good pilot and became a valued crew member.

soolin

Soolin (Glynis Barber) - joined the crew at the beginning of season 4, a hired gun who had been working for an unsavoury character named Dorian. After he was killed, she joined the rebels on Dorian's ship, Scorpio. Soolin maintained a cool, collected exterior, and was an excellent gunfighter. She had been trained by the men who killed her family - she eventually killed all of them in revenge.

servalan

Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce) - Supreme Commander of Space Command, and later President; the arch-enemy of the rebels. Extremely poised and elegant, but deadly, using anything and anyone to achieve her goals. Recruited Travis to track down and kill the crew, but after repeated failures she put him on trial to save her reputation and career. Reinvented herself as Commissioner Sleer in the final season, disposing of anyone who could readily identify her.

Travis

Travis (Stephen Greif/Brian Croucher) - ruthless and dedicated field officer, recruited by Servalan to track down the rebels. Obsessed with Blake, who caused the injuries that necessitated his robotic hand and eye. Servalan picked Travis because he was in trouble with the administration, having ordered a massacre of civilians who had already surrendered. After repeated failures, Travis had a mental breakdown, and reappeared in season two with a different personality (and as a different actor). After again failing to catch the rebels, Servalan put him on trial and he was sentenced to death, only to escape when the Liberator attacked Space Command. Travis became a fugitive, and ended up working (unofficially) for Servalan. In the end, he sold out humanity to the Andromedans, leading to the destruction of Star One where he died, falling into the reactor.
