Sean plays the brave warrior Boromir in Peter Jackson's film "The Fellowship of the Ring", the first in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Boromir seeks to defend his people from the evil Lord Sauron, and is tempted by the power of the ring, thinking he can use it against Gondor's foes. Too late he realises the ring has merely been seeking to control him, and bitterly regrets trying to take it from Frodo. He dies trying to save Merry and Pippin from Saruman's Uruk-Hai - a hero's death.
Boromir appeared in The Two Towers, in flashback in his brother Faramir's dream, and in the extended version as a flashback to events immediately preceding Boromir's journey to Rivendell. He also appeared briefly in The Return of the King, in a scene between Faramir and Denethor.
